The board of the Royal Belgian Tabletennisfederation has examined the third and last complaint in the GPS-case of La Villette Charleroi. The complaint of the Provincial Comité of Antwerp has been found ungrounded. With all complaints examined, the competition can be restarted.
EBS and Virton, the only two teams that were sure about eachother, have fixed their encounters already. Monday 5th of April, the club of Luxemburg will receive EBS, where Grégory Obert will play his first match of this season. The return is planned on 22nd of April in Auvelais. Both teams are playing for places 5 to 8. The other two teams for these places are Deinze and Vedrinamur.
In the semi-finals for the Championship, La Villette Charleori will face PW Diest. The Antwerp teams of Hoboken and Mortsel will fight for the second ticket of the final. |

The competition commission of the Belgian Tabletennis Federation has looked at the complaint of Sokah Hoboken about the GPS-case of La Villette Charleroi. The commission stands by its earlier decision. La Villette Charleroi loses the match on forfeit, has to pay a penalty of 1250 euros but isn't excluded from the competition.
Sokah Hoboken can appeal again, if they want to, but it's highly unlikely as they have qualified themselves for the semi-finals of the Championship.
The third appeal, by the Provincial Comité of Antwerp, will be looked at by the National Board of Directions on March 29th.

Belgium A (Juniors Jean/Nuytinck/Bierny) and Belgium B (Juniors Indeherberg/Vanrossomme/Saudemont) have qualified themselves for the final table on the Junior Open of Italy. The "A-team" is first seeded and only lost 1 individual match. Their seeding directs them immediately into the quarter finals. The "B-team", seeded 6th, didn't lose a single match today but have to face Slovakia in the round of 16.
The cadets A (Florent Lambiet and Martin Allegro) did qualify as well without losing a single match. They will play against France B in their round of 16. The cadets B (Romain Lambiet and Guillaume Diouf) have lost their groupmatches. Diouf managed to win two individual matches.
The girls-team, which consists of 1 junior (Alison Georis) and 2 cadets (Nathalie Marchetti and Florence Vanacker), had the difficult task of playing in the juniors competition. They proved to be worthy opponents: Florence Vanacker was able to win two matches and Georis won 4 out of 6. This resulted in one team-victory against Lithouania.

Due to technical reasons, the ITTF was only able to present the World Ranking of February 2010 a few days ago. This might be related to the big changes the World Ranking has been undergoing. The number of points have been largely reduced and fractions have been removed. The last change is somewhat a surprise, as they were only introduced in 2008 to decide whether Persson or Saive was directly seeded to the Olympics. Now the ITTF removes those fractions again which leads to 2 ex-aequo's in the top 20 alone...
Another change is that players are removed after 1 year of inactivity in tournaments with Ranking Points. Until now, players that played a World Championship or on the Olympics were kept in the list much longer. As a result of that change, Wang Nang (8th best player in the women's ranking of January) has disappeared from the list. For Belgium, both Philippe Saive and Gabriella Vinci are removed from the list.
On the top of the men's ranking, Ma Long has a quite strong standing with more than 200 points ahead of Wang Hao. Timo Boll regains his third place in favor of Ma Lin. Jike Zhang is still on the rise and occupies number 8 this month. Bastian Steger (36 -> 20) and Chen Weixing (24 -> 16) enter the top 20 this month.
Jean-Michel Saive is still the best Belgian player, as he gains 2 places and becoms 53rd. This might be of importance to evade qualifications on some heavy seeded tournaments. The most impressive changes are for Belgian youth players Julien Indeherberg (+150 places, thanks to a brilliant debut in the ITTF Pro Tour) and Florent Lambiet (+280 places).
Karen Opdencamp gains 15 places and is now ranked 220th on the women's ranking, a new personal record.

The appeal of Knal Deinze against the federations decision concerning the GPS-case of La Villette Charleroi has been rejected. Deinze asked for a recompensation because they had to cancel the top bill and repay their spectators. The federation rejected the claim because Deinze didn't use the correct procedures.
